As producers, we need to be open to letting collaborators steer the ship for us every now and then. Without giving our music that freedom, we run the very real risk of sounding stale. Any track I’ve made that I am truly proud of has featured someone doing something I can’t do myself and in a way that makes rethink the composition process entirely. We should strive to surround ourselves with those whose skills and visions are different from our own. And it’s up to us to adapt their contributions in order to suit our overall vision and take our music to new heights.

Grants for arts organisations

Solution: Keep a practice journal and set weekly goals. Budget your practice time in your journal the way you would your finances. Break goals into small chunks and keep a record of how you actually end up spending that time. Make adjustments regularly and cut yourself some slack. Ten minutes of focused practice can be more helpful than two hours of tedious drills, particularly if your mind is elsewhere. Instead of panicking over minutes and hours, focus on what you can achieve in the time you have available.

In his YouTube channel, SHOEGAZER he reviews effect pedals, teaches guitar chords and interviews weller known bands of the shoegaze scene. He was the frontman of the band Downhill Willows and releases his own albums on Bandcamp.

Nea foundation learning & leadership grants

But perhaps the most commonly popularized use of the horizontal hemiola pattern is found in Leonard Bernstein’s “America” from his brilliant West Side Story musical. The following Latin-music-inspired motif is so clearly supplanted as the foundation of this song’s structure, it’s almost impossible to hear the horizontal hemiola without thinking of it. Here, the effect of modulating between duple and triple meter feels particularly strong.

The people of Puerto Rico have been working — the people themselves — since the moment the hurricane passed to help clear neighborhoods and roads of debris, and doing the work necessary to rebuild. They’ve been sharing and pooling resources and helping each other. Showing initiative and being honest is what they really want to see. Inflating what you can realistically offer a venue might land you a show in the short term, but it will only result in empty venues and people being upset with your band. You’re going to need allies at venues both in your local scene and around the country if you hope to make touring a lasting part of your band’s lifespan. Honesty and realness are king.
